Scottsdale Porcelain Crown
A beautiful smile in Scottsdale
can start with two words: porcelain crown.
A porcelain
crown is made entirely of porcelain or other ceramic
material.
A crown is a dental restoration that covers your entire
tooth. It used to be that any crown had to have some
metal in it for strength. Today, we can make them completely
out of porcelain, meaning that they can look very aesthetic
and natural. A porcelain
crown has been known to have the nicest appearance.
It mimics the appearance of your natural tooth to the
point where it is difficult to tell that it is even
there.
A porcelain crown may be necessary to correct and
repair:
- Old broken down fillings
- Fractured or chipped teeth
- Sensitive teeth
Crowns are also used to improve the appearance of
natural teeth that are malformed, malpositioned or discolored.
Crowns strengthen and protect the remaining tooth
structure and can improve the appearance of your teeth.
Fitting a crown usually requires at least two appointments
to complete the procedure. During your first visit,
the tooth is prepared for the crown, an impression or
mold is made of the tooth, and a temporary crown is
placed over the prepared tooth. During the following
visit, the temporary crown is removed and the final
crown is fitted, adjusted, and cemented into place.
