5 Ways to Improve the Look of Your Smile
By Ann Sielicki on May 15, 2020
An alluring smile benefits every aspect of your life. It helps others perceive you as confident, poised and successful, and it may open up opportunities you otherwise would not have. An attractive smile can also help boost your self-esteem and help you feel more comfortable in your own skin.
If insecurities about your smile hold you back from feeling your best, Dr. Ann Sielicki of Sonoran Dental Design can help. She has a wide array of techniques and treatments to help you achieve your perfect smile.
Read on as Dr. Sielicki shares five common ways dentistry can transform your smile.
1. Brighten Dull Teeth
Are you bothered by the appearance of stained or discolored teeth? Dr. Sielicki may suggest brightening them with KöR teeth whitening treatment. This two-step process, which combines in-office treatment with the at-home use of whitening trays, can lighten teeth up to eight shades.
For stubborn tooth stains or discoloration that won’t respond to whitening treatment, Dr. Sielicki may recommend covering up the stains with porcelain veneers.
2. Cover Up Small Imperfections
Veneers are used for more than just stains or discolorations — they are a great way to hide chips, cracks or uneven tooth edges. The veneer slips over the tooth, masking the imperfections.
If you are looking for another quick and easy solution for minor dental imperfections, bonding may be the way to go. With bonding, Dr. Sielicki uses a tooth-colored composite resin material to cover up small flaws (like minor chips) and perfect the appearance of the teeth.
3. Restore Broken or Worn Teeth
Broken or worn teeth can be brought back to life with the placement of a crown or cap. Crowning these teeth restores them to normal form, function and strength.
4. Close Spaces Between Teeth
Spacing problems can be remedied a few different ways. Small spaces between the front teeth can usually be camouflaged with dental bonding or the placement of porcelain veneers. More serious spacing issues, such as tooth crowding or widely spaced teeth, usually require orthodontics. If you are uneasy about wearing traditional metal braces, don’t worry. Dr. Sielicki can prescribe Invisalign, which uses a series of clear, removable aligners to improve spacing problems.
5. Replace Missing Teeth
Is a more extensive issue, such as a missing tooth, making you feel self-conscious? Ask Dr. Sielicki about your options. Depending on your circumstances, she may suggest closing the gap with a dental bridge or replacing the tooth with a dental implant.
