You may be a suitable candidate for a smile makeover if you are bothered by any of the following:
- Uneven gum line
- Worn teeth
- Tooth decay
- Stained teeth
- Fractured teeth
- Missing teeth
- Misshapen teeth
- Crooked teeth

Your Smile Makeover Treatment Plan
Prior to developing your smile makeover treatment plan, Dr. Sielicki will perform a complete examination of your mouth, noting teeth that need to be repaired or improved. She may also take X-rays and other images or records to diagnose dental problems that must be addressed.
The two of you will discuss exactly what you hope to achieve from your smile makeover. You should describe issues that bother you about your tooth color, shape, alignment or spacing, as well as any problems with the overall harmony and balance of your smile.
Dr. Sielicki will explain what can be done to address those issues, and she will lay out a step-by-step plan to transform your smile. The treatment plan could include any of the following procedures or treatments:
- Placement of porcelain veneers
- Placement of porcelain crowns
- Replacing old metal fillings with tooth-colored restorations
- Replacing missing teeth with a dental implant or bridge
- Dental bonding
- Teeth whitening
- Gum recontouring
Dr. Sielicki’s goal is for you to enjoy a healthy, beautiful smile for life. Every effort will be made to improve the appearance, form, function and health of your teeth and gums.
Depending on the scope of treatment, your smile makeover may be completed in a single appointment; on the other hand, it could require multiple appointments spaced out over a few months up to a year. If you would prefer to stage out your smile makeover, Dr. Sielicki can recommend how to prioritize the suggested procedures.
Smile Makeover Expected Results
Your smile makeover will be completely customized to your unique concerns and goals. In general, you can expect a whiter, brighter and straighter looking smile that complements the rest of your facial appearance, including your lips, eyes, hair color and skin tone.
Smile Makeover FAQs
What makes an ideal smile?
Apart from the warmth of your personality, the two most important components of any beautiful smile are your teeth and gums. Brilliantly white, unstained teeth that are perfectly arrayed and evenly spaced are the ideal foundation for a great smile. But there are also some less obvious factors, such as tooth proportion, texture, characterization, symmetry and angulation.
For example, to the eye longer teeth generally appear to be more attractive. They add youthfulness to your appearance, and can even have a slimming effect on a round face. This can vary with gender, however. Smaller and rounder teeth look more appealing for women, while men may appear more masculine with larger, square-shaped teeth with harder edges.
The gums are an often-overlooked component of a great smile. As a start, they should be healthy, with a natural pink appearance. Gums that have begun to show signs of gingivitis tend to recede, and the pockets that develop under the gum line show space between the lower portion of the teeth. Gums that are ignored completely can have a major impact on your smile, when periodontal disease eats away at roots and the bone that secures your teeth, resulting in a complete loss of one or more teeth.
How many appointments will I need?
The number of office visits will vary with the types of options chosen, and the current state of a patient’s overall dental health. Addressing critical issues such as decay, loose fillings or crowns, impacted teeth or gum disease will be a first step.
Once the foundation for a healthy smile is laid, the smile design process begins with a complete evaluation by Dr. Sielicki and the creation of a plan that you and your dentist both agree is appropriate. The next step involves taking an impression of your teeth. After that, the journey to your dream smile may take a few weeks or a few months. Certain procedures stretch out the timeline; these include gum lift or gum contouring, which requires healing of at least two months, and dental implants, which may add six months to the schedule to allow time for the implant to become securely anchored in the bone. For misaligned teeth, orthodontic solutions may take a year or longer. Some procedures are able to be done concurrently in one or more follow-up appointments, including veneers, bonding, whitening and crowns.
Is smile design art or science?
To create your beautiful smile, you need both: the skill of an experienced dentist and the aesthetic talent of an artist. So much of what makes a smile attractive is in the eye of the beholder. Sculpting the perfect smile requires a sense of balance and proportion, something a passionless technician or machine cannot master. Experienced Scottsdale dentist Dr. Ann Sielicki of Sonoran Dental Design brings the right combination of artistry and dental craftsmanship to every smile design procedure. She knows that straightening and lightening your teeth are only first steps in the quest to create your masterpiece smile. In the end, the ultimate proof of your satisfaction and her success is how many smiles you yourself create in others – every time you flash your new dazzling, irresistible grin.
