Fillings

Even with the best oral hygiene, cavities and tooth decay can happen, causing pain and sensitivity.

Dental fillings at Sonoran Dental Design can help relieve your pain and preserve your tooth.

Dr. Ann Sielicki in Scottsdale, AZ, can provide a more comfortable treatment experience to restore your oral health.

What Is a Filling?

A filling is a dental procedure in which your dentist removes tooth decay and then fills the space with composite resin. This prevents bacteria from entering the tooth and causing further decay. A dental filling helps restore your oral health and preserves the tooth structure.

Why Are Fillings Important in Dentistry?

While a small cavity may not seem like a big deal, it can grow and lead to further health issues like infections, abscesses, and even tooth loss. A filling allows your dentist to address cavities early on and preserve the tooth.

A More Comfortable Experience

Patients often avoid treatment due to fear of pain. Dr. Sielicki and our team are dedicated to creating positive dental experiences so patients can achieve and maintain optimal oral health. To make the numbing injection more comfortable, our dental office in Scottsdale, AZ, uses advanced techniques and technology:

Onset® by Onpharma

Onset® by Onpharma adjusts the pH of local anesthesia injections to minimize discomfort. It also allows the medication to take effect quicker, with fewer side effects.

DentalVibe®

This vibration tool stimulates the gums to reduce the pain and discomfort associated with injections.

OraVerse®

Once your treatment is completed, your dentist can use OraVerse to reverse the numbing effect of the local anesthesia. Thanks to OraVerse, you won't have to deal with anesthesia's side effects for hours after treatment.

Dental Filling Treatment

Consultation

During your initial consultation at our Scottsdale dental office, Dr. Sielicki will examine your mouth and possibly take X-rays to determine if a dental filling is the right treatment for you.

Local Anesthetic

Dr. Sielicki will begin your treatment by numbing the area. To reduce discomfort during the injection, we use Onset® by Onpharma and DentalVibe®. We also offer sedation options for those who need an extra level of care.

Decay Removal

Once you are numbed, Dr. Sielicki begins by removing areas of decay. This is done by opening the cavity and cleaning this area of the tooth.

Dental Filling

Once the decay is removed, your dentist will fill the tooth with a composite resin material and shape it to align naturally with your bite. This material is hardened with a UV light.

Numbing Reversal

Once treatment is done, Dr. Sielicki can reverse the anesthesia with OraVerse so that you do not have to deal with lingering numbness.

Cavity Prevention

Worried about future cavities? Visit us for twice-yearly routine cleanings. We use the CariFree® risk assessment system to evaluate your oral pH and check for the presence of decay-causing bacteria before they become a problem.
