Teeth Contouring

Minor concerns like chips or slight misalignment can keep you from fully loving how your teeth look. Tooth contouring can correct these minor concerns for a more confident smile.  Sonoran Dental Design offers teeth contouring as an accessible cosmetic dentistry procedure for Scottsdale, AZ, patients.

What Is Teeth Contouring?

Teeth contouring, also known as dental contouring or tooth reshaping, is a cosmetic dentistry procedure used to address minor concerns such as small chips or slight inconsistencies in the size and shape of a tooth. During this dentistry service, a small amount of tooth enamel is carefully removed to alter the shape or length of a tooth, resulting in an improved overall look.

Benefits of Teeth Contouring

Cosmetic dentistry doesn't have to mean involved treatments like dental implants or a full smile makeover. Like teeth whitening, tooth contouring offers a fast, easy way to refine your smile.

Minimally Invasive

This procedure is minimally invasive, involving the removal of a small amount of enamel. The process is conservative and doesn't compromise the overall structure and integrity of your teeth. There is no bleeding from the gums since they are not touched during the procedure.

Fast Results

Tooth reshaping usually can be completed in a single visit to our dental office in Scottsdale, AZ. Improvements in your smile can be seen right away.

Virtually Painless

Since only a minimal amount of enamel is removed, local anesthesia is not usually necessary. Our dentist, Dr. Ann Sielicki, stops contouring the teeth well before any pain from exposing the sensitive inside of the tooth can occur.

Lower Cost

Cosmetic dentistry services often come with a higher out-of-pocket cost, since they're not covered by insurance. However, simpler procedures like teeth whitening and contouring are on the less expensive side, especially compared to dental implants or veneers.

Consulting With Our Dentist

Free consultations are available for new patients at our Scottsdale, AZ, dental office. During your consultation, our dentist will explain the tooth contouring procedure, discuss any concerns, and take any necessary X-rays. Prior to your treatment, our dentist may mark the treatment areas before beginning your procedure.

Removing Enamel

Typically a drill or laser is used to reshape the enamel. The amount of enamel that can be safely removed in the process differs for every patient. Dr. Sielicki is especially careful to not remove too much enamel during the process, as this hard outer layer is what keeps the vulnerable inside of a tooth protected.

Smoothing the Surface

Dental abrasive polishing strips are used to smooth the surface of the teeth after the dental contouring procedure, to ensure no jagged edges are left behind.

Finalizing Your Results

Our dentist will finalize your results and have you approve of the look of your smile before sending you on your way.

Caring for Your Smile

Our dentist will also inform you of how to care for your teeth after the procedure and how to address any sensitivity that may come up in the first hours after your procedure.
