Your First Dental Visit in Scottsdale, AZ
Getting on the road to optimal oral health
Welcome to our dental office in Scottsdale, AZ. We are looking forward to taking care of all of your dental, whole body health care needs, and desires as they relate to your oral environment. Our goal at Sonoran Dental Design is to bring all of our patients to improved health. We enjoy being able to provide our patients with the latest in technology, ensuring enjoyment of your teeth. Depending on how you choose to filter yourself through our office, (emergency exam for localized evaluation to a full comprehensive exam) we wanted to share with you what our goals are to provide you with the best options for your health.
Together, we will be taking a tour of your mouth by gathering data. The data will include a well-rounded review of your health history, past and current dental history, goals and desires for your teeth and health. In order to take a deep look inside of your mouth, we use the necessary diagnostics tools such as digital radiography, intra and extra-oral photos, periodontal health measurement readings, bacterial testing for decay and periodontal disease, oral cancer screening with the Velscope, gums, bone, and your bite (how the teeth fit together).
Take a Look at Our Office
There are four areas that we will look at together, the esthetics of the teeth (how they look), the function of the bite, the biology of the mouth (decay and disease) along with the structure of the teeth (current condition). Our goal is to help you become more aware of the conditions that may or may not be present in your teeth/mouth. After, we review with you the risks and benefits of treatment, as well as what would happen if no treatment were carried out. We will need the necessary time to explain options that may be pending on what is uncovered during the diagnosis. There are many conditions in dentistry that are present with no feeling for the patient, such as gum disease, fractured teeth and abscesses.
As each person is an individual presenting at various levels of health, your appointment time will vary depending on the condition of the oral cavity. Please allow the appropriate amount of time. This could be from 20 minutes for a limited focused exam, to 90 minutes for a comprehensive exam. This may or may not include time for a cleaning depending on the health of the gums and bone. Some patients with needs will be invited back to review findings and clarify risks and benefits. If treatment is required for anything that maybe co-discovered, all options will be explained to enable you with the needed information explaining risks and benefits of certain treatment options, as well as no or postponed treatments. We are here to support you in making decisions on how you would like to proceed.
