Invisalign in Scottsdale

Convenient and comfortable alternative to traditional braces

Many patients who suffer from uneven or misaligned teeth have considered straightening their smiles. However, the thought of a mouth full of metal brackets and wires usually stops them from getting traditional braces. Fortunately, Invisalign® treatment offers a convenient alternative. Dr. Sielicki of Sonoran Dental Design in Scottsdale stresses the importance of properly aligned teeth. Dr. Ann Sielicki believes in the importance of properly aligned teeth, and to ensure a solid structural foundation, she offers Invisalign® treatment at her Scottsdale, AZ, dental practice.

How Can Invisalign® Benefit Me?

Invisalign® is an orthodontic treatment that uses a series of clear, virtually invisible, aligners to gradually move teeth into their proper position. These smooth, comfortable plastic trays are worn over the teeth and replaced every two weeks with a new set until the treatment is complete. Dr. Sielicki will monitor your progress throughout your treatment period, to ensure that it is on track.

At the end of the treatment period, which usually lasts about one year for adults, patients will be able to show off their new and improved smile.

Invisalign® offers a convenient option for patients who wish to correct their smile. Unlike traditional metal braces, which are more difficult to brush and floss, Invisalign® trays are removable for easy cleaning.

Additionally, patients do not have the same food restrictions that traditional braces require. However, patients undergoing Invisalign® treatment should still practice proper oral hygiene. This ensures a long-lasting, healthy-looking smile once your treatment period is complete.

Am I a Suitable Candidate?

Invisalign®, we will evaluate your mouth, bite, teeth, and gums to determine if you are a suitable candidate. Most candidates have minor spacing and alignment issues, such as:

  • Gaps between teeth
  • Overlapping or crowded teeth
  • An overbite or protruding upper teeth
  • Crossbite, underbite, or open bite

Before placing porcelain veneers or dental implants, Dr. Sielicki will want to make sure that your teeth are properly aligned, to ensure a solid foundation prior to your dental procedure. In addition, for cases of severe alignment, Dr. Sielicki may recommend an alternate treatment option.

How Does Invisalign® Work?

Invisalign®, x-rays, pictures, and impressions of your teeth will be taken. These will be used to create a 3-D image that Dr. Sielicki can use to outline a custom treatment plan. Based on this plan, a set of thin, BPA-free plastic trays will be custom-made for you.

Invisalign® treatment progresses in stages. Approximately every two weeks, you will replace your current trays with a new set of aligner trays. Each new set of aligners will bring the teeth closer to their proper alignment. It is recommended that patients wear the trays for 21 to 22 hours each day, removing them only during eating and cleaning.

At the end of the treatment period, which usually lasts about one year for adults, patients will be able to show off their new and improved smile. To ensure that teeth remain in their newly corrected position, patients may need to wear a retainer. Dr. Sielicki will review your treatment duration and specific requirements with you during your first appointment.
