What Is Invisalign?

/

Invisalign is a modern orthodontic treatment that has transformed the teeth of more than 13 million patients. Unlike braces, which use noticeable and potentially uncomfortable wires and brackets, Invisalign straightens teeth using smooth, clear aligners.

What Common Conditions Can Invisalign Address?

One of the best things about Invisalign is that it can treat many of the same orthodontic conditions as traditional braces. Clear aligners can correct:

  • Crooked teeth
  • Crowded or overlapped teeth
  • Gaps or spaces
  • Rotated teeth
  • Overbites
  • Underbites
  • Crossbites
  • Open bites

Invisalign vs. Traditional Orthodontics

Traditional Metal Braces

This form of traditional orthodontics uses metal brackets, bands, and wires to straighten the teeth. These appliances are visible, but they can address a wide range of mild to severe orthodontic problems.

Invisalign

Invisalign also straightens teeth over time, but it uses a series of removable clear aligners to achieve results. Each set of aligners is typically worn for one or two weeks before switching to the next set.

The Sonoran Dental Design Difference

These are just some of the reasons our Scottsdale practice has become a top choice for patients who want to receive orthodontic treatment with Invisalign.

Elite Dentist

Dr. Sielicki has consistently earned recognition for her dental skill and compassionate care. One of her major honors was being named as one of Phoenix Magazine's "Top Dentists." Dr. Sielicki's knowledge and reputation have resulted in her mentoring other dentists in training sessions and workshops multiple times each year.

Advanced Technology

We have invested in many dental technologies to make our treatments more efficient and comfortable. Specifically for Invisalign, we can use the iTero® intraoral scanner to create incredibly accurate digital models of your bite. This allows Dr. Sielicki to plan and perform your treatment without ever resorting to uncomfortable dental putty.

Patient Empowerment

Choosing to straighten your teeth with Invisalign is an investment in your look, health, and confidence. Our team is renowned for educating patients so they can get the most out of their treatment. Dr. Sielicki will clearly explain the difference between Invisalign and braces and help guide you through your teeth straightening journey.

Keeping Your Invisalign Treatment Affordable

Many insurance plans cover Invisalign the same way they would cover braces. Our Scottsdale team will work directly with your provider to seek maximum benefits on your behalf.

If you need help with any out-of-pocket costs, we accept CareCredit®, which is a third-party financing option that allows you to pay for your treatment in monthly installments with little or no interest.

But Is Invisalign Right for Me? Determining Your Candidacy for Invisalign

During your initial consultation, we can discuss what Invisalign can do for you and show you before-and-after photos of real patients. We'll also discuss your concerns, smile goals, and health history. Aligner therapy may be right for you if you have:

Good Oral Health

Before straightening your teeth, we must ensure that you do not have extensive tooth decay, gum disease, or other serious problems. We can treat these issues at our office.

Mild to Moderate Misalignment

While clear aligners can correct the majority of orthodontic problems, complex cases may require traditional orthodontics. We can put you in touch with an orthodontist in the Scottsdale area.

A Commitment to Treatment

To be effective, aligners should be worn for a minimum of 22 hours every day. They should only be removed to brush, floss, eat, and drink, and must be worn to sleep each night.

The Typical Invisalign Treatment Timeline

Invisalign treatment takes about 12 to 18 months to complete. It may take shorter or longer depending on your specific case. Here are some general steps to expect during the treatment process:
Treatment can often be completed in as few as 12 months.
Treatment can often be completed in as few as 12 months.

X-Rays

First, our dental team takes x-rays and scans. This will confirm that your teeth and gums are healthy enough to undergo treatment with the Invisalign system.

Impressions

Next, your dentist takes impressions. These are sent to Align Technology, where a skilled lab technician will use them to fabricate your clear aligners.

Fitting Your Trays

Once the Invisalign lab creates your aligners, they will be shipped to our Scottsdale, AZ, office. Dr. Sielicki will have you try on the first set to ensure they fit properly.

Active Treatment

You will be given instructions for daily wear. Your clear aligners must be worn for 22 hours every single day. Dr. Sielicki will let you know when to move on to the next aligner set.

Retention

Once your teeth have been moved into proper position, you must wear a retainer to keep them from shifting back. We will provide you with detailed instructions.
