Dental Implants

Losing a tooth can undermine not only the appearance of your smile, but its health and function, as well.

At Sonoran Dental Design in Scottsdale, AZ, Dr. Ann Sielicki can restore dental implants to replace your missing teeth.

Find out why dental implants are the next best thing to your natural teeth...

Dental Implant Benefits

Implants offer a number of advantages over alternative tooth replacement options, including:

Better Oral Health

Unlike dental bridges and dentures, implants replace missing tooth roots, which reduces the risk of future bone atrophy. In addition, implants do not require the alteration of the natural teeth.

Optimal Comfort

Titanium tooth implants fuse with the jawbone to form an extremely stable foundation for your smile. As a result, implants are much more comfortable compared to removable dentures and other tooth replacement solutions.

Improved Confidence

When you are missing a single tooth or multiple teeth, you may be self-conscious about your appearance, and even avoid social interactions. Implants fill in the gaps of your smile and can consequently boost confidence.

Am I a Good Candidate For Treatment?

While modern techniques like All-on-4 make dental implants accessible for a wider range of patients, not everyone qualifies for treatment. Several factors can affect your candidacy such as:

Oral Health

It is important to have good oral health other than tooth loss before undergoing dental implant treatment. During your consultation at our Scottsdale office, we will examine your mouth and check for signs of gum disease, infection, and other common conditions. If we find anything, we will provide the appropriate treatment to restore your candidacy implants.

Overall Health

Since dental implants involve a surgical procedure, they are not recommended for individuals who suffer from certain health conditions. Uncontrolled diabetes, autoimmune disorders, and osteoporosis can all increase your chances of implant failure. Please go over your medical history with your dentist so we can assess your risks and best ensure your safety.

Jawbone Density

Tooth roots serve an important function in maintaining strong gum and jawbone tissue. When you are missing teeth for a long period of time, your jaw begins to atrophy. While traditional dental implants do not work for patients with low bone density, you may still qualify for All-on-4 treatment.

Choosing the Best Treatment For You The Sonoran Dental Design Paitent Experience

Sonoran Dental Design in Scottsdale, AZ, is different from other dental practices because of the personal attention Dr. Sielicki gives to each patient. Worried About Undergoing Dental Surgery? We Can Help With Sedation Dentistry

If you suffer from high levels of sensitivity or a fear of dental procedures, there is a way you can undergo treatment more comfortably. Our Scottsdale practice offers sedation dentistry to induce a state of relaxation and help you overcome your aversion to the dentist. While sedation is overwhelmingly safe, we go the extra mile and use high-tech monitoring devices to observe your vital signs during treatment. Ask about sedation dentistry at your consultation to find an option right for you.

Dental Implant Treatment Timeline

Day of Procedure

Preparatory Procedures

Some patients may need preparatory procedures prior to dental implant placement. This commonly includes tooth removal or the placement of bone grafts to increase jawbone density. If included, this step can add a few months to the total treatment time.

Implant Placement

On the day of the surgery, you will receive a local anesthetic, and, if desired, a form of sedation to make you comfortable. Then, your licensed oral surgeon will create a small incision in the gum tissue to access the jawbone. When the area has been prepared, a special instrument is used to carefully insert the threaded titanium implant into the jaw.

Sutures

Next, we place a small healing cap on the implant and close the incision with sutures. this completes the first phase of your procedure. We will provide you with detailed recovery instructions to reduce your risk for postoperative complications.

Healing

During this recovery period, known as osseointegration, the bone tissue fuses to the titanium surface of the implant. The process usually takes about three to six months.

Abutment Placement

When you are fully healed, you will undergo a second procedure to attach small connector parts known as abutments to each implant. The abutment extends just beyond the gums and serves as an anchor for your new restoration.

Final Restoration

Once the connector post is in place, you will be scheduled for the final phase of treatment at our Scottsdale office. Your dentist secures your permanent crown, bridge, or denture to the abutments to complete your smile. After this step, your implant can be used and cleaned just like a real tooth.

What should I expect after my dental implants have been placed?

Is Dental Implant Treatment Worth It?

After reviewing the timeline and recovery involved with dental implants you may be wondering if the results are worth it. The truth is, no other form of restorative dentistry can provide the same convenience, comfort, and protection that come with implants.

Since your restoration stays fixed in place you do not have to worry about tedious maintenance or traditional denture care. The posts also mimic natural tooth roots securing your prosthetic with unparalleled stability. Best of all, implants stave off common side effects of tooth loss such as gum recession, jawbone atrophy, and sunken-looking facial features.

You have our word, dental implants are well worth it in the end.
