Advanced Technology to Visualize Your New Smile

Many patients want to see what their new smile will look like before they undergo cosmetic treatment. Our iTero® intraoral scanner allows us to take impressions of your mouth, eliminating the need for messy putty impressions, and it also allows your dentist to create a preview so you can see what your new smile will look like before the impressions are sent to the lab.

The Cost of Porcelain Veneers

Cost is a very important factor in your decision to undergo treatment. The price will ultimately vary from patient to patient, depending on the material used, the number of teeth being treated, and additional cosmetic and restorative procedures you may need. Dr. Sielicki can provide you with a personalized estimate for your treatment during your consultation at our Scottsdale practice.

Because veneers are considered cosmetic dentistry and thus elective treatment, insurance does not cover the cost. However, we do provide options to make treatment more affordable. We are happy to accept financing through CareCredit®, and we'll help you coordinate a payment plan that works for your budget.

Candidates for Treatment

During your consultation, we will ask you some questions about your health and lifestyle to make sure dental veneers are a good option for your smile. You may be a good candidate for porcelain veneers if you:

  • Have healthy gums and teeth: A healthy foundation is essential before any cosmetic treatments can proceed.
  • Are committed to proper oral hygiene and care: It is important that you properly brush and floss, as decay can develop under the porcelain veneer. Proper hygiene also helps your cosmetic treatment last longer.
  • Have a sufficient amount of tooth enamel for treatment: Because porcelain veneers require a small amount of enamel to be removed, you must have sufficient enamel for treatment.
  • Do not suffer from bruxism or wear a mouthguard to protect your teeth: Grinding and wear can damage the porcelain veneers. Veneers are not suggested for patients who suffer from bruxism.
  • Are interested in a more permanent solution for cosmetic flaws: It is important to understand that once the tooth is altered for veneers, it will always require some sort of restoration.

The Porcelain Veneers Timeline

Here is what you can expect when you undergo treatment for dental veneers at our Scottsdale, AZ, office:

Using the highest quality porcelain and the latest techniques in the field, our veneers consistently exceed our patient's expectations.
Using the highest quality porcelain and the latest techniques in the field, our veneers consistently exceed our patient's expectations.

Consultation

During your initial consultation, our dentist will examine your teeth and evaluate your oral health with our high-tech intraoral camera, X-rays, and digital impressions. She will discuss your cosmetic goals and make recommendations for the type of veneers that may work best for you.

Tooth Prep

In order to make room for the veneer shell to lay flush with your surrounding teeth, the dentist will remove a small layer of surface enamel. We will then take highly detailed impressions of your teeth that are sent to our trusted partner lab along with the designs for your veneers.

Construction

Our trusted lab will craft your veneers using high-quality porcelain. Traditional porcelain veneers can take up to two weeks to create, so we will provide temporary veneers to protect your enamel and prevent sensitivity while you wait for your permanent restorations.

Placement

When your veneers are ready, you can return to the dentist's office for a second appointment. We will ensure that they fit your smile, preserving your natural bite and alignment. Once we are satisfied with the placement and bite, we will bond them in place with special dental cement.

Frequently Asked Questions About Porcelain Veneers

Are veneers painful to receive?

Most patients experience no pain at all during their treatment. Prior to placing a veneer, Dr. Sielicki numbs the tooth and the surrounding area to prevent discomfort and sensitivity. There is no recovery time, and most patients adjust to the feel of their dental veneers very comfortably.

Will veneers match the color of my natural teeth?

Yes; during your consultation, we will discuss the color of your restorations and help you select the optimal shade. If you are unhappy with the color of your enamel prior to treatment, we recommend first whitening your teeth and matching the veneer to the new shade. Patients frequently combine cosmetic procedures like whitening and gum contouring with their veneers to achieve more comprehensive enhancement.

Do I need to replace my veneers in the future?

Carefully designed, properly placed, and well-maintained veneers are made of durable porcelain and can last for many years. Nevertheless, your restorations will likely need to be replaced at some point. Because your natural tooth is reshaped in order to accommodate a veneer, the tooth will always need to be covered with a restoration (either a veneer or a crown).

How long do porcelain veneers last?

This will vary from patient to patient. However, with proper care and maintenance, your veneers can last up to 15 years before they need to be replaced. Be sure to practice proper oral hygiene, visit your dentist for regular check-ups,  and be mindful of certain foods that could damage the porcelain. We want your new smile to last for as long as possible.

Is there an alternative to veneers?

Dental bonding and dental crowns are used as alternatives to veneers in the field of cosmetic dentistry. However, with dental crowns, the tooth requires more alteration than veneers. Veneers are thinner than a dental crown and only require a small amount of the enamel to be removed in order to achieve an excellent fit.

What happens if a veneer falls off?

If a veneer falls off, do not throw it away. Dr. Sielicki can easily bond it back into place during an office visit. Trying to reattach it yourself is not recommended. Contact our Scottsdale office if you have any problems, and we will schedule you an appointment as soon as possible.

I've had bonding in the past but want veneers. Is that possible?

Yes. However, you will need an examination by our dentist to determine if you have sufficient enamel first. Once Dr. Sielicki determines your tooth is healthy enough for a veneer, we can move forward with replacing the bonding material with a custom veneer.
